Why this blog?

Assalamulaikum,

Some things need to be made clear right at the beginning. I am not an Islamic Scholar; to be considered a scholar in Islam requires the training and learnings more arduous than that of any doctor. Nor am I even at the level below, a Student of Knowledge. I am simply a muslim.

However, I have been inspired to create this blog through the numerous and invariably pleasant discussions I have had with non-muslim colleagues. People who are generally athiest. Some militant, others curious. Some definite, most open to ideas. And through those discussions I have had no interest in trying to preach nor convert them. I think that has helped them ask probing questions. And it makes you think and realise Allah has blessed us with all the answers. Sincerely, through the blessing of the Quran and Hadith I have not been stumped.

I hope to use this as a place to save those discussions, for posterity but also so that others who have the same questions may use it as a beginning point to get those answers. I won't be doing a blow by blow, nor a transcript of those discussions. They inspire posts and that is it.

To the muslim community, I wish to remind you that I am human and will certainly make mistakes. Any I have made, please email me directly so I can correct them ASAP. Please don't use the comments as a debating ground for differing opinions or for severe critiscm. I don't want to have to disable comments. The non-muslims, any questions, please either email them to me or if related to a post, put it in the comments section. Remember, no abuse please!

Finally, I will place references where I can for anything I say. Where I do not have the references for something I will be clear and humbly ask my muslim brothers and sisters to either provide references or clarify any mistakes I made.
